Privacy Policy

The Arch Project exists to help people discover and explore original historical sources. If you're just here to read and explore, we don't collect or store any information about you. We do use Google Analytics to understand how our visitors interact with our site in general (see below), but you can disallow our site from placing cookies without losing any functionality.

If you choose to contribute to The Arch Project, we'll ask you for you name and email address, and academic affiliations, which we will never sell, lease or otherwise share with anyone without your permission (unless required to by law). You will also be able to set a nickname and your research interests, which will be publicly available. We collect this information to evaluate prospective contributors and to maintain the quality of the contributions to the site. To contribute to The Arch Project, you'll need to have cookies enabled for the site.

You can choose to delete your account at any time by making a request through the support page. Your contributions will remain in the project but will be attributed to a generic 'former user'. We will confirm your request by email before deleting the account as account deletion, once completed, is irretrievable.

Contacting you: we will use the email address you provide to contact you in certain situations: when you register; if you reset your password; if you have violated the terms of use; or to pass on a message from another user. We will never give your email address to another user, and you can opt out of receiving messages from other users in your account settings (under 'Change user info'), but you should understand that if you send a message to another user through The Arch Project, that user will receive your email address.
